     If you use enough of it… #seedchat -9:06 PM Oct 10th, 2012
It's a good soil conditioner and does a good job of breaking up clay soil. #SeedChat -9:04 PM Oct 10th, 2012
I'm looking online to see if I can find any locally, but not seeing it #seedchat -9:04 PM Oct 10th, 2012
Thanks for joining us tonight, everyone.  will be back next week. #SeedChat -9:03 PM Oct 10th, 2012

ahh, gotcha! So what does it do for the soil? #seedchat #seedchat -9:03 PM Oct 10th, 2012
    "almost" makes me wonder....#seedchat -9:01 PM Oct 10th, 2012
I'm not sure how expensive it would be on a large scale. But the bags seem comp to other composts I've seen. #SeedChat -9:01 PM Oct 10th, 2012
#seedchat using iPad for chat 1st time. Kinda weird -9:01 PM Oct 10th, 2012
No, cotton burr is the part of the plant that holds the cotton tufts. It's the seed pod, for lack of a better term. #SeedChat -9:00 PM Oct 10th, 2012
“ maybe I can install gro-lites in the commie garden.. #seedchat” fancy LEDs -9:00 PM Oct 10th, 2012
is cotton burr compost the same thing as cotton seed meal? I put that on my blueberries #seedchat#seedchat -8:59 PM Oct 10th, 2012
maybe I can install gro-lites in the commie garden.. #seedchat -8:59 PM Oct 10th, 2012
We have those, I had raccoons under my porch earlier this year. #seedchat -8:59 PM Oct 10th, 2012
-That's what is happening to most of my plants right now. Especially my pumpkins and roses. Lots of not-proper lace. #seedchat -8:59 PM Oct 10th, 2012
there are definitely plenty of skunks in the 'burbs outside chicago, and their numbers are up.. #seedchat -8:58 PM Oct 10th, 2012
I haven't seen a skunk in Chicago yet, but I've seen raccoons and opossums this year searching for food. #seedchat -8:58 PM Oct 10th, 2012
Wouldn't cotton burr compost be expensive for a large area? I have clay to break up, but doubt I could afford compst #seedchat -8:58 PM Oct 10th, 2012
#seedchat shade makes it tough -8:58 PM Oct 10th, 2012
They tear up & fold over grass looking for grubs, & it's happening in my yard #seedchat -8:57 PM Oct 10th, 2012
I did see cotton burr compost at GSG but I've been throwing down bags of Black Forest Soil Conditioner lately.. #seedchat -8:57 PM Oct 10th, 2012
We talk about all kinds of things on#SeedChat almost no topic off limits here. -8:57 PM Oct 10th, 2012
they make the leaves look like lace, it doesn't usually kill the plant though, just a nuisance#seedchat #seedchat -8:56 PM Oct 10th, 2012
I have a packet of Camelina, ordered but haven't tried yet. Have you tried this one???#seedchat -8:56 PM Oct 10th, 2012
because the radish seeds were free at the Will County Farm Bureau? #seedchat -8:56 PM Oct 10th, 2012
However, I did remember to ask why you don't just use cotton burr compost and skip the extra step of growing a CC #seedchat -8:56 PM Oct 10th, 2012
    Skunks? I haven't seen a skunk since I left CA, I hope I don't have to deal with any here #seedchat -8:56 PM Oct 10th, 2012
well I will let you all know whether or not my radish experiment works out.. #seedchat -8:55 PM Oct 10th, 2012
just looked up spider beetles, those things are nasty looking, flea beetles are tiny and not that gross looking#seedchat #seedchat -8:55 PM Oct 10th, 2012
There was a cover crop that was recommended for clay soil I made note of for you, but now I can't remember it. #seedchat -8:54 PM Oct 10th, 2012
Thought #seedchat was about seeds.....rats!! I read today that drought has brought on many skunks to Midwest -8:54 PM Oct 10th, 2012
#seedchat just to be clear I "think" it was flea beetles (damage was like that). I didn't care for the turnips because of deer and rabbits -8:52 PM Oct 10th, 2012
what other cover crops will bust up clay and work well in shade, if not radishes? #seedchat -8:52 PM Oct 10th, 2012
it's a good thing I don't live next door to the garden anymore.. maybe the flea beetles will eat the rats..#SeedChat -8:51 PM Oct 10th, 2012
      we've got spider beetles in Chicago, I bet they're related.. #seedchat -8:50 PM Oct 10th, 2012
-Evidently I am overrun with them now that I have seen a picture. D'oh.#seedchat -8:50 PM Oct 10th, 2012
    I already did plant it.. #SeedChat -8:50 PM Oct 10th, 2012
Plant that stuff and you'll get flea beetles. #SeedChat -8:49 PM Oct 10th, 2012

#seedchat more people think that way around Lawrence & aren't so "rabid" about it. -8:48 PM Oct 10th, 2012
srsly? this radish claims to grow 4' deep! In the shade I'm not sure what I'll get though.. but the seeds were free! #seedchat -8:46 PM Oct 10th, 2012
.. did not get as good coverage or soil penetration as turnips #seedchat -8:45 PM Oct 10th, 2012

I already went there. That's why I said they looked like some daikons. #seedchat -8:45 PM Oct 10th, 2012
one of the farms I grow at used them but have switched to turnips as radishes brought in more flea beetles and....#seedchat -8:44 PM Oct 10th, 2012
   Oh, I forgot about #seedchat again! -8:44 PM Oct 10th, 2012
    sorry, I've only used rye and clover#seedchat #seedchat -8:44 PM Oct 10th, 2012

Well, that too I guess. I didn't have a lot to harvest this year except for herbs. #seedchat.-8:35 PM Oct 10th, 2012
